A Perfect Vacation Spot: Hawaii

Hawaii became the newest member of the United States in 1959. However, the history of Hawaii dates back centuries. Hawaii was first inhabited by Polynesians from the Marquesas Islands about fifteen hundred years ago. About five hundred years later, the island was inhabited by settlers from Tahiti, who brought with them their strict system of beliefs that involved the use of taboo. However, one of the most notable historical facts about Hawaii is how the Japanese launched their attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. 

Since the years that the island was part of war, it has rapidly become the tourist destination for families and others as well. The main attraction to the Hawaii is the temperature making it the go-to place for all times of the year. On average, the temperature in Hawaii is in the eighties, even during their winter time. Another huge tourism factor is the many volcanoes that are located throughout Hawaii on the various islands. These are mostly dormant volcanoes and have yet to prove a problem. 

While volcanoes and temperature play a huge role in the amount of tourism the island receives, other people come to tour the many botanical gardens that are found throughout Hawaii. The majority of Hawaii is protected land making it the prime spot to the nature of Hawaii in its element. Another tourism draw is the luaus. These are parties that Hawaiian's throw that always involve a dinner of kalua pig, which is cooked underground using the warmth of the Earth to roast it. The luaus are complete with singing and dancing, making it a once in a lifetime event for the tourist. 

There are many other activities to do while visiting Hawaii. For starters, learning to snuba is a newly added activity that people are loving. This is a combination between scuba diving and snorkeling. The person is able to dive under and see the coral life without the added weight of wearing the oxygen tanks. Of course for those who do not like this idea, there is still scuba and snorkeling available. There are also numerous beaches to visit that involve horseback riding, as well as just relaxing. For those big nature buffs, there is also hiking. And for those who want to see the scenery without the effort, there are numerous ATV courses to utilize. 

There is a little bit of everything for everyone at Hawaii, for all ages. Children will love discovering the fish and other wildlife found throughout the island. While parents will love the heritage of the island.
