The neighboring areas of Kai, Kama’aina, and Manoa are also really quiet and surround the Mamala Bay area of the city. The downtown region of Honolulu has Asians as a major part of the community that settled here way back in the 1850’s.

Usually people like to establish their own business rather than working for someone and so the Asians started many new businesses, which brought in huge amount of cash and prosperity to the state. The people then named the business area as Chinatown, which got destroyed due to a fire between 1886 and 1900. However the area was rebuild and it became a popular tourist spot wherein people could see the eye-catching flowers and some of the most exclusive spices and many decorative items.

The Maunakea and Manoa Market places are some of the famous markets of Honolulu, which house some of the best restaurants and shops. The state is also famous for its University of Hawaii and also the Cultural Plaza. Besides all these markets there is also the Lyon Arboretum, which is well renowned all over the world.

In the Northern region of the city you will find various water sport and other recreational activities like hiking, sky diving, paragliding, Horse riding etc. The town of Haleiwa located in the northern region of Hawaii is well known for its art and architecture. It’s a famous tourist spot wherein you will find a lot of carved paintings and sculptures.

Another destination that you would like to visit if you happen to be in Honolulu is the Ala Moana beach. Along with the beach this place has a shopping mall so one can accomplish both the activities of shopping and enjoying on a beach at the same time. In the center of Oahu you will find the Ewa plains, which are surrounded by 2 mountain ranges, Koolau and Waianae mountain ranges. In the western region you will find more number of cool beaches besides the oceans, tropical forests and steep cliffs.
