Built in the 1980s, Anchorage, located in Hawaii Kai, is a beautiful waterfront neighborhood. Sitting on the branch of the marina furthest out from Maunalua Bay, it’s located no more than a few blocks away from the local post office, which is on Hawaii Kai Drive.
Anchorage boasts 108 executive styled homes, most of which are bordering the water. Ranging in size from 2,100 square feet to over 3,000 square feet they are an ideal size for the picturesque location. They also sit on large blocks, from 7,000 to 10,000 square feet, which leaves ample space for a pool to be put in if the property owner so desires.
The ideal living area for boat enthusiasts, the majority of homes are equipped with docks, allowing easy access to the ocean. Many boat owners enjoy the location because Anchorage is only a stone’s throw away from the open sea.
In 2006 homes in the area had the median value of over one million dollars, while in 2007 a home off water sold for around $1.09 million and an on water, marine front home held a steady price tag of $1.395 million, if it’sin original condition.
2008 saw four Anchorage homes go under the hammer with their final sale prices reaching $889,000, $939,000, $975,000 and the most expensive hitting a high of $1,009,400. The first two homes were around 2,000 square feet on 8,000 square feet lots, while both homes with higher price tags were marina front, 1,870 square foot on homes settled on lots of 8,240 square feet.
