This area is steadily becoming one of the fastest growing areas in all of Hawaii and was originally intended to be the ‘second city’ of Oahu. The area was designed to be a community in which offered everything that the general Honolulu area offered, but able to accommodate many more people. Because of this, there are many new homes, business parks, medical faculties, and so forth that are in the area. The Yokohama beach has rocky bottom so it is not suitable for beginner surfers. High waves and strong currents present at Yokohama Bay. If you plan to swim at Yokohama Bay, you should visit during the summer. The bay has fine brown sand. It also has beautiful scenery. There are several mountains in the surrounding region of the bay. You can bring along a camera if you want to take photo of the scenery. There are many legends behind the Yokohama Bay.

If you want to go to somewhere with a beautiful setting, you should visit the Yokohama Bay. Yokohama Bay offers cool breezes from the trade wind. The place is always hot and sunny so it is great for sun basking. The picturesque mountains will give you a peaceful feeling. It is the site where one can go and have a Hawaiian feel. Local people often come to Yokohama Bay to camp. During the weekend, the shore will be pre-occupied with people. If you want to avoid the crowd, you should visit the beach in between Tuesday and Thursday. Lifeguards are available on the weekdays and weekends so it is safe to carry out water sports activities at Yokohama Bay.

Yokohama Beach is a good snorkeling spot when the water is calm. The snorkeling spot is located on the left side of the small rocks. You can snorkel at the rocky point located on the southern side of the beach. Yokohama Beach is exposed to large waves in the winter. The waves can suddenly becomes very fierce without you knowing about it. If you want to go to Yokohama Beach, you can take the H-1 highway. Yokohama Bay is located at the end of the Farrington Highway.

Kawela Bay is remote beach situated nearby to the Turtle Bay Resort at Oahu. Most tourists don’t know about this beach because it is difficult to locate. You can see the beach if you stay at Turtle Bay Resort. An alternative way to locate the beach is to park along the highway. At the back of the beach, there are many trees so you have to walk through them in order to see it. The water at Kawela Bay is slightly cloudy because of the water running from the nearby stream. Despite that, many people have gone snorkeling at the Kawela Bay.

Kawela Bay is a great beach for people who want to go swimming in calm ocean water. You can take a stroll along the Kawela Bay and have some quiet time. Kawela Bay has a narrow shoreline. It is surrounded by lush tropical forest. The backdrops of the beach are ironwood trees and coconut palm trees. It is a protected beach on the north Oahu because of the reef. The reef protected the ocean from high waves in the winter months. Unlike other beaches on the north Oahu, the water of Kawela Bay is free from strong current throughout the year.

There are many rocks at the bay so you must be careful. The center parts as well as the west part have lesser rocks. There are a small number of patch reefs at the Kawela Bay. There are many surf sites at the outer reef. There used to be houses along the Kawela Bay. However, the residents are asked to move to the center region because of a plan to build a resort. The resort remained undeveloped up to today. Kawela Bay has no facility and lifeguard. If you want to go to Kawela Bay, you can follow the trail from Turtle Bay Resort. It takes about 20 minutes to reach Kawela Bay.

The Kawela Bay Beach Park is not well developed. Most of the coastal features of Kawela Bay cannot be seen from the Kamehameha Highway. You can easily access the beach park from the shore. To the east of Kawela Bay is the James Campbell National Wildlife Refuge. James Campbell National Wildlife Refuge offers a great wetland habitat. The Hukilau Beach is also near to the Kawela Bay. Kawela Bay along with other nearby regions such as Turtle Bay and Kuilima has a postal code of 96732. The Opana Radar Site is located inland from the Kawela Bay. Opana Radar Site is a historic landmark but the public cannot visit it. 

Prince Kuhio Beach is situated nearby to the Diamond Head landmark. It is also near to the Sheraton Moana Surfrider. The statue of Duke Kahanamoku can be found at the beach. There are plenty of activities you can perform at Kuhio Beach. You can participate in a surfing lesson if you wan to go surfing at the ocean. You can rent various types of boats such as catamaran and outrigger canoe from the rental center at the Kuhio Beach. If you want to enjoy the ocean breeze, you can stroll along the pedestrian promenade. When strolling along the pedestrian promenade, you can get a clear view of the Waikiki Beach. The water is quite shallow so it is safe for kids. After taking a walk at the promenade, you can go for a swim. The water at the end of the pedestrian promenade is protected. 

Prince Kuhio Beach is equipped with various types of facilities including showers, picnic tables and restrooms. There are a few hotels near Prince Kuhio Beach including Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani. Prince Kuhio Beach is named after Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole. Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole is the youngest son of Kekaulike Kinoiki II. Prince Kuhio was born the 26^th of March 1871. The mother of Prince Kuhio died a short while after his birth. After his mother died, Queen Kapiolani adopted them. Queen Kapiolani and King Kalakaua don’t have children. Hence, King Kalakaua bestowed the boy with a prince title.

The famous surfing sites, Queen’s and Canoes re located to the west of Prince Kuhio Beach. The surfing spot Queen’s is named after Queen Liliuokalani. Queen Liliuokalani used to have beach house there. There is also a pier at the inshore of the site. The Prince Kuhio Statue can be found at this site. Sean Browne sculpted the statue and the dedication ceremony is in 2002.  Besides, you will find the Stones of Kapaemahu; also know as the wizard stones at the beach. Jan Michelle Sawyer created Duke Kahanamoku Statue. The dedication ceremony of Duke Kahanamoku Statue took place in 1990. Duke Kahanamoku invented surfing so he is regarded as the father of modern surfing. He is also an Olympic swimmer and canoeist. The Stones of Kapaemahu are representation of four men in the legend of Hawaii. The four legendary men represented in the Stones of Kapaemahu are Kapaemahu, Kahaloa, Kapuni and Kinohi.

Diamond Head Coast is located within proximity from the Diamond Head Coast. Several homes are located nearby to the Diamond Head Coast. Most of the homes are protected by the Hawaii State. If you want to travel here, you can take the Kalakaua Avenue. After you see the stop sign, you should turn right into Diamond Head Coast. Diamond Head is a volcano crater formed about 4,000,000 years ago. It is a dormant volcano so it is unlikely to erupt again in the future. The signature of Diamond Head can be seen in the Koolau Mountain Range. It can also be seen in the Waianae mountain chains. The Koolau and Waianae mountains protect the island from the northwestern trade winds. The northwestern trade wind is responsible for bringing rain to the windward side.

The clouds are forced to rain down the precipitation on the windward side before reaching the leeward side. This ensures that the island is sunny and warm all the time. The beautiful scenery of the Diamond Head Coast causes many high-end residences to be built. Diamond Head real estate community is one of the most valuable real estate communities on Oahu. The homes are built along the coastline and nearby the mountains that overlook the Diamond Head coast. The advantage of staying at the Diamond Head is that you get to view the beautiful Pacific Ocean at all time. Diamond Head volcano crater is a popular tourist attraction in Oahu.

If you want to swim at the Diamond Head , you should pay attention to the bad weather. You should only swim at approved beaches that are supervised by lifeguards. The lava rocks at the beach are fragile. If you want to hike along the Diamond Head Coast, you can take the approved trail. When hiking the trail, you should not wander away into unknown trail. If you happen to be at the Diamond Head Coast, you should visit the Diamond Head crater. You will have to hike the Diamond Head Trail to reach the summit. Once you climb to the summit of the Diamond Head crater, you can get a clear view of the west side of the Oahu Island. You will be able to see the area from Waikiki to Koki Head. When going to the Diamond Head crater, you must remember to bring water and torchlight. Bathrooms can be found at the beginning of the trailhead. 

Formerly known as Waimea Valley Audubon Center, and now called Waimea Valley, features various Hawaiian natural history and culture. It is situated in Haleiwa in north Oahu. It offers exhibition on more than 2,500 species of plants. It covers an area of 1,800 acres of land. Waimea Valley used to be a taro plantation cultivated by the local Hawaiians. You can follow the trail at the center to reach the Waihi Falls. The trail to Waihi Falls is about 3.5 miles. Waihi Falls is about 40 foot high. Waihi Falls is also called Waimea Falls. There are lifeguard supervising the people so it is safe to swim there. The remains of Hale O Lono heaiau can be found at the Waimea Valley. You can also observe other archaeological sites at the park. There are several evidences that prove the valley was an important religious site.

The center is open for public visitation from 9 a.m. -5 p.m. everyday. The best time to visit Waimea Valley is in the morning or afternoon. Once you arrive at the park, you will get an informative handout. You can take the self-guided tour to explore the gardens. Different types of native plants can be seen at the park. It offers a wide range of flora. When visiting the park, you will be able to learn about the Hawaiian ecosystems. The purpose is to allow the visitors to explore the nature so that they can learn more about Hawaii environment. The plants in the park are labeled properly. You can reference the labels on the plant if you want to get more information. You can visit the Pikake Pavilion to have some refreshments. If you want to go to the park, you need to bring along a bottle of water. You can purchase snacks and beverages at the shop there. If you are coming by car, you will have to pay a fee for the car park.

You should bring your own swimsuit if you want to swim at the pool at Waihi Falls. At the Waihi Falls, there is a changing room, which you can use to change your clothes. There are a number of birdseeds stations. You can purchase birdseeds from the birdseed stations to feed the birds. Some of the birds you can see at the park include peacock, chickens and etc.

Halona Blow Hole is a must visit natural attraction on Oahu. Many tourists who are visiting Hawaii Kai will come to Halona Blow Hole. Tour groups often include the Halona Blow Hole as part of the tour package. The best time to visit the blowhole is during a windy day.

Halona Blow Hole is formed from molten lava tubes that developed during the volcanic eruption that occurred many years ago. The lava tube is located underneath the ocean. When the water passes through the lava tube, the blowhole will spurts out water up to as high as 30 feet. The bigger the surf wave, the more water will shoot out from the blowhole. The Halona Beach Cove is located at the right side of the Halona Blowhole. The Halona Beach Cove, also called Peering Place is a small sandy beach that offers great swimming opportunities. You should only go swimming at the Halona Beach when there is calm surf.

Halona Beach was featured in the romantic movie called “From Here to Eternity” filmed in 1953. The Hawaiian green sea turtle frequently visit the Halona Beach. Nearby the Halona Beach, you will find the Kalwi Channel. Kalwi Channel is a dangerous ocean channel. Since no lifeguard is positioned at Halona Beach, you must be careful. You should avoid swimming at the Halona Beach if you notice rough surf. You can check with the local people about the ocean condition and weather. To avoid slipping, you should wear a pair of sturdy shoes. The beach is quite steep so you need to be careful when walking on it. There are also lots of rocks at the beach. The waves frequently crash to the sides so you should always walk further from the water. It is advised that you stay within a distance from the blowhole. You can stand at a site in a safe distance to view the blowhole.

You can reach Halona Blow Hole by taking the Kalanionole Highway. The blowhole is about 5 minutes drive from Hawaii Kai. From the Halona Blow Hole, you can view the Halona coastline. You can also get a good view of the offshore islands such as Molokai, Lanai and etc. In the winter, you may be able to watch whales swimming in the ocean. When you are at this site, you can visit other popular landmarks such as Hanauma Bay and Koko Head Botanical Garden.

Senator Fong’s Plantation and Gardens is a park located at Kaneohe. Hiram Fong first owned the garden. Hiram Fong was a Chinese American that worked as a U.S. Senate for 17 years. After working for 17 years, he retired to the tropical garden. Senator Fong’s Plantation and Gardens covers area 725 acres and situated about 80 feet above the sea level. It is located at about 2,600 feet from the Koolau Mountains. Senator Fong’s Plantation and Gardens area is larger than the Waikiki. 

The garden plantation is divided into 5 different regions. Each of the 5 regions is named after the 5 presidents, which he had served during the time he worked at the U.S. Senate. Originally, King Lunalilo owned the land in the garden. However, Senator Fong bought it over later. While at Senator Fong Plantation Garden, you can learn how to create lei. The lei making class will teach you how to make lei out of the flowers that are picked from the garden. The lei making class is available in two languages including English and Japanese.  The garden has a large open-air facility for people who want to hold wedding. You will find facilities such as gift shop, fruit stand, restroom, car park and visitor center.

The garden landscape is almost the same as the landscape that occur hundreds of years ago. The forest has all kinds of plants including kukui, hala, and ohia-ai. If you observe the slope, you will notice the ti grass and pili grass. Senator’s Fong Plantation Garden offers daily guided walking tour that takes place in between 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. The guided garden walk allows you to take a tour around the valleys of the plantation. You will be able to explore all kinds of fruit trees, palm trees and flower plants at the plantation garden. As tourists travel around the garden, the guide will hand out fragrant flowers located on the trail. 

The park is open from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. daily. If you want to come to Senator Fong’s Plantation and Gardens, you can take the H-1. While traveling on H-1, you should turn to Likelike Highway. After you have turned into Likelike Highway, you can turn into Kahekikili Highway. Later, you should turn left into Pulama Road Bus. If you walk uphill for 1 mile, you will reach Senator Fong’s Plantation and Gardens.
