What are some of the Museums in Honolulu?

Honolulu has a rich Hawaiian culture. The people that inhabit the land have managed to preserve the Hawaiian culture from generations to generations. Several museums have been established in Honolulu. Many museums in Honolulu organize concerts. If you visit the museum weekends, you will probably get discount. There are a number of museums you can visit in Honolulu including Bishop Museum, Battleship Missouri Memorial, Hawaii Maritime Center, and USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park. The Bishop Museum was established in the 19th century. It offers exhibitions on the historical artifacts collected in different places in Hawaii. It also exhibits artifacts collected from other islands. There are millions of artifacts in the Bishop Museum. One of the features of the Bishop Museum is the Victorian style edifice.  There is an exhibit that showcases the skeleton of sperm whale. There is a gallery that features Victorian artifacts. Other important structures in the museum include grass house and planetarium. There are many Hawaiian and Polynesian artifacts in the Bishop museum.

The Battleship Missouri Memorial, also known as Mighty Mo is a WWII battleship. Many years ago, the Japanese signed some papers while on the ship. The ship has many large guns. Today, you can find the battleship at the Pearl Harbor. There are several tours you can participate at the battleship Missouri Memorial including Mighty Mo Tour, Acoustiguide Tour, Guide2Go iPod Tour and walking tour. In the Mighty Mo Tour, a specially trained guide who is familiar with all the sections of the battleship will escort the visitors around the ship. The Mighty Mo Tour lasted for 35 minutes. In the Acoustiguide Tour, tourists will explore the ships by using the audio phones. The acoustiguide tour is available in several languages including English, Japanese and Korean. In Guide2Go iPod Tour, tourists will get to participate in an audiovisual tour. The waking tour will take visitors around the ship so that they can learn more about its historical aspects.

Hawaii Maritime Center is situated at Pier 7 of the Honolulu Harbor. It is located to the east of the Aloha Tower. The maritime center is on a boathouse that used to belong to King David Kalakaua. The Falls of Clyde ship is managed by the Hawaii Maritime Center. It is listed as a national historic landmark. The maritime center is closed to the public because of bad economic situations.

USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park offers both indoor and outdoor exhibits. Some of the indoor exhibits at the museum include battle flags, Poseidon missile, and bowfin artifacts. The outdoor exhibits at the museum are waterfront memorial, regulus, kaiten and McCann Rescue Chamber.
