The North Shore is known for the saying 'Surf's Up!'. This area is one of the op surfing locations in all the world. It is known for the wide beaches that spread across seven miles that is riddled with spectacular views. During the winter season, the waves on this beach reaches around twenty to thirty feet. The most popular spots in the North Shore Area are Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and Banzai Pipeline. The Banzai Pipeline is actually where many world class surfing contest are held that numerous professionals attend. The North Shore area is also home to the such surfing events as the Triple Crown, which is the final part of the men's world championships.

If surfing is not really something that is on your list of things to do, then you can find other things that will keep your attention and provide with countless hours of fun.
Sailing and fishing, as well as snorkeling and diving are popular activities in the area. For those that want to have a little excitement, there are shark tours that you can take, which is sure to give you a dose of excitement and fear.
There is also a great feeling of quaintness in the culture of the area, such as the town off Haleiwa which has many small shops that are charming to visitors, as well as many restaurants, cafes and art galleries that people can attend to get acquainted with some of the culture. The Resort at Turtle Bay is also a high destination sight for people to go. The area has two golf courses, and many fine restaurants. In Laie, there is te Polynesian Cultural Center that is a great way to learn of culture and history that surrounds the Hawaii area.
For those that are looking to see some fast-paced sports, visit the area of Mokuleia on Sundays where there are also polo matches that are going on.
