Guide to the Haleiwa Town

Haleiwa town is situated on the northern side of Oahu. The town has a population of more than 2,000 people. With a population of more than 2,000 people, it is ranked as the largest ton in the north Oahu. If you are in Waikiki, it will take 1 hour to reach the town. When you are at the town, you will be able to observe all kinds of plantation era buildings. The plantation style architecture can be seen on the restaurants, art galleries, boutiques and etc. The town is located near to the Waialua Bay. The Hale’iwa Beach Park is located in the north while the Hale’iwa Ali’i Beach Park is located on the south. The Kaiaka State Recreation Area is located on the west side of Haleiwa.

 

Tourists can visit Waimea Valley Park while in Haleiwa. While in Waimea Valley Park, you can visit Hale Kipa. The elders at Hale Kipa will use various types of demonstrations such as songs, artifacts and etc to teach you about the lifestyle of the Hawaiian people. You can also participate in lei making activity at the park. Lei are a garland made from strings. Some of the games you can take part when visiting Waimea Valley Park are konane, Ulu maika, and moa pahe. If you want to explore the different regions in the park, you ca participate in the guided hiking activity. The guided hiking tour will begin at the Ticket boot at about 9 a.m. You should arrive a few minutes earlier. You can equip yourself with various equipments such as insect repellant, camera, water and etc. During the hiking trip, you will get to climb to the top of the Kalahe’s Ridge.

 

The north shore is well known for ocean recreational activities such as surfing, skydiving, scuba diving, and snorkeling. The best time to go scuba diving is in the summer months. Tourists who want to go scuba diving must visit the Sharks Cove. Sharks Cove is a long cave with lots of lava tubes. If you want to go snorkeling, you can swim near to the surface of the water. When you are cruising on the water, you can observe a variety of marine lives. You can also participate in a north shore shark tour. In the north shore shark tour, the visitors will enter into a cage. The cage will be let down into the water so that the visitors can see all kinds of fearsome creatures swimming up close.
