A community made up of apartments, condos, and single-family dwellings, Lualualei is a part of Waianae on the island of Oahu. Lualualei has a special segment that is entirely committed to Hawaiian Homestead Lands in the vicinity. Featuring gorgeous scenery, particularly that of the Waianae Mountain Range, Lualualei also has immediate access to the gorgeous coast. One of the remaining sources of agriculture left on the island, Waianae residents include farmers who specialize in livestock, veggies, and flowers in abundance. Most recreational activities in Lualualei take place in the great outdoors; with Camp Timberline and Camp Mokuleai providing excellent camping facilities, natives and visitors alike can enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Hiking is ample, with Mokuleia Trail, Honouliuli Contour Trail, and the Dupont Trail near Lualualei.
For those who prefer the water, the Lualualie Reservoir is available for fun in the sun, as are the streams in the area. Golfers come from all over the world to enjoy the 18-hole Makaha Golf Course, complete with an on-site country club for post-game refreshment. Residents send their children to one of the six elementary schools that are tended to by the Waianae-Nanakuli Complex school system, and then the children progress to the Waianae or Nanakuli Intermediate School and then onto the high schools of the same names. Charter schooling in the area has a primary focus on the traditional values of Hawaiian natives.
